The Feral Gift<\/a> is an ongoing co-creative experiment in feral ways of knowing, doing, and becoming an eco-social change.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We understand feral ways<\/em> as open-ended, spontaneous, situated, more-than-human and wild. They invite surprising, unexpected encounters and relations, and may unfold beyond our full control. They connect creatures of diverse shapes, backgrounds and origins and bring them together into a playful, convivial exchange. These feral ways carry the potential to challenge dominant ontological and epistemological discourses defining how we should co-exist in the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Feral Gift contributors, we set out to explore this potential through a co-creative process of performative storytelling and embodied action, inspired by the Fluxus Event Scores. Throughout six weeks, we experimented with embodying our personal experiences \u2013 memories, dreams, fears, hopes, imaginaries \u2013 related to the notion of eco-social change. Each week, one of us selected a guiding narrative (for example, from books, poems, songs) capturing resonant elements of change and devised a score for a situated enactment to be performed by the rest of the group in their diverse places & spaces: for example, a kitchen in Helsinki, an art space in Tokyo, a living room in Colombia, a forest patch in Ume\u00e5, a mountain in Edinburgh, a cottage in Bohemia, an elevator in Newcastle, a home in Seoul, a seacoast near Seville\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the Feral Gift exchange, we explored various narratives of change through concrete but abstract, everyday-life but unusual, sensory-rich, and intimate activities. We touched, smelled, tasted, listened to, and felt what something as abstract and scalable as eco-social change might mean to each of us. We documented our enactments in various formats, including videos, photos, short stories, poems, drawings, and blackberry cakes, and shared these with one another as gifts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this sharing circle occassion<\/em>, we will share some of our gifts and engage the audience in an impromptu, performative gifting exchange resulting in a collective exhibition. We will show our videos, read short stories and share a score for a situated enactment to be performed by everyone in the room (who is up for that). We will discuss how being feral together in this way (as artists, designers, researchers, human & non-human creatures, and all of these all at once) has been meaningful for us, and perhaps for others too. We will also introduce bits and pieces of the CreaTures project<\/a>, where this feral experiment emerged. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
